High Country Motor Lodge

Nice pool, excellent cocktails, in house pizza, and a game room...the upgrades to this old motor lodge are just right. They have a sauna hot/cold experience that you can add on, but we didn't try it. Beds are comfy, linens are soft, the layout remains classic motor lodge. My one beef: Whoever painted the bathrooms and vanity area didn't prime the walls, so despite the contemporary color, the thick scratched and peeling paint looks like the landlord special. It's common mistake to skip primer and then glob the paint on in hopes of coverage, but it's really sad to see in a motel that made such nice upgrades everywhere else. If you don't do stairs request the ground floor because there is no elevator!
