Paper and object based invitations become historical documents... they are a personal reminder to come to the opening, they live on fridges, in sketchbooks, on bulletin boards, in handbags and pockets. You find them every now and then and remember, "yeah, that was a great show!" and then you call the artist and reconnect. There are so many good reasons to make these for every show. I'm old enough to have a giant collection of art show invites from the 80's forward, but there was a moment where everyone, EVERYONE moved to email invitations...and that was a sad era. The Smithsonian even has a collection of unusual invites in special collections. LOVE.
